Expressing My Authenticity Isn’t Easy, But I Do It Anyway
Personally I have been up against the raw emotions of writing what is true for me.
I remember the first time I printed my truth online. It was only three years ago. The sense of terror and fear was palpable as I pushed the ‘send’ button. I’ve kept going, and going. And it’s a lot easier to press ‘publish’, now.
That doesn’t mean that I don’t have angst in the process, because I do. Around the July 4th holidays here in the USA, I was feeling out of control fear, because I hit a sweet spot in my work, and I could feel the energies rushing through me and towards me.
I have spent much time in self reflection, much time in self growth processes. And yet, how often do I find myself saying there it is again. There’s the issue. There’s the fear of coming forward. Of saying how it is for me.
I don’t know how relatable what I’m writing is but it’s what is true for me. My world is beautiful and colorful, inside. And bringing what is within to the surface, allowing it to pour through me, and then creating with this inner essence authentically, is a real process and it takes some real effort to do so.
It’s not just the time to do creative projects. As this inner material moves up through me it stirs emotions, stirs memories. It comes up against teachings, bad and good. It comes up against points of view I’ve acquired and didn’t know I had until my essence met them.
The key to authenticity, in my view, is matching the essence of who we are and what we wish to create, with what gets created. There are so many pushes and pulls to do it this way, to fit in.
Shining our light and speaking our truth sometimes takes practice. It can take practice to get clearer and clearer.
And this is the journey.
